Defining Instructional Technology
|
This video presentation represents my very first project in the IDD program in which I give my definition of instructional technology. With reference to the various learning paradigms (behaviorism, cognitivism, etc.), I defined the concept of learning as occurring across a wide spectrum of theories - it cannot be described by any one paradigm. Click on the video to the left to view my final narrated product, which describes the history of IT, including changes and continuities, as well as my definitions of various IT related terms.
I developed the video using Audacity (audio recording) and Adobe Premiere Pro (putting it all together). I made the slides using a Powerpoint template. If I were to do this project over again, I would have used additional visual aids to illustrate my points, as well as spent more time fleshing out the various paradigms. |
Facilitating Group Change - Project Management Site
Dr. Karen Watkins of the University of Georgia was my project client for EDIT 6200E (Learning Environments Design I). She wanted to develop a learning survey module for students in her blended and online courses to take. As a part of my EDIT 6200E assignment, I developed a project management website that I used to track my project progress. Managing a project is a key skill in instructional design and development as it helps the designer track hours, keeps team members on task together, and prevents “project-creep.”
I created this project management site on Google Drive, and used it primarily as a design journal and as a repository for my design documents. While the experience of doing this was valuable, I found the actual process itself to be time consuming. I discovered that Google Sites is not very robust in what you can do there, especially in terms of journaling or blogging. The next time I approach project management, I will look at setting up a site via Wordpress or something similar.
